  • LTAC Team Receives First REP Award

     

    The Respiratory Therapy Team at DeKalb Medical Long Term Acute Care at Downtown Decatur (LTAC) received the REP (Recognizing Excellent Performance) Award for the month of February, 2012, making this the first ever REP award for LTAC.

    The award was presented to the entire LTAC Respiratory Team for providing excellent care to a patient transferred to LTAC. The following letter was written from the patient’s husband:

  • Nominate Hillandale STARs

    Just a reminder to all Hillandale staff of the STAR Awards. The STAR Award is for those who have gone above and beyond job requirements/expectations to provide excellent customer service to other employees, visitors, and/or patients. If you know someone whodeserves this nomination, please send Shelley DiCecco a detailed email about this person. Once a month, the Rewards and Recognition Committee members will vote on all the nominations for the month. All names are removed from the nomination prior to the voting process to prevent any bias.

  • Keep Your Eyes Peeled for Peach Patrol!

      We're pickin' Peaches and you could be next! The last Friday of every month is PEACH Day, and all employees who are PEACH members are encouraged to show their support of the DeKalb Medical Foundation by wearing their embroidered polo shirts and/or their retractable badge holders.    PEACH donors who are randomly selected will receive a special recognition item from the Foundation.  (Employees wearing the PEACH polo are eligible to win a $25 QuikTrip gas card.)  So, be sure to wear your PEACH items on the next PEACH Day -- Friday, Feb. 24th!

  • DeKalb Medical Ranks Best in AJCs Hospital Scorecard

    In the Atlanta Journal Constitution's report on Feb. 14, 2012 on central line-associated blood stream infections, DeKalb Medical ranked as the best hospital in the Metro Atlanta area. Data from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reveal that DeKalb Medical had ZERO central line-associated blood stream infections. 

    Congratulations and keep up the excellent work in providing quality care to our patients and community!

    DeKalb Medical honors the memory of three physicians, Dr. William “Hugh” Spruell, Jr., Dr. Robert L. Davies and Dr. Robert H. “Tim” Almeroth, Jr., who passed away this winter.

  • Payroll Deduction for Gift Shop Purchases

    Due to a computer glitch last week, all payroll deductions for purchases made at DeKalb Medical gift shops through Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2012 will be applied to Feb. 23, 2012 paychecks instead of March 8, 2012 paychecks. Retail Sales apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause. Thanks for your patronage of DeKalb Medical gift shops.

  • Board Member Honored by DeKalb History Center

    DeKalb Medical board of directors member Mr. Gregory Levett has been honored as a Community Champion by the DeKalb History Center. The Center held it's fifth Annual Black History Month Celebration and Levett was among five distinguished citizens to receive this award. Levett is a business executive, philanthropist and a community leader who has, along with his family members, donated more than $1 million to charitable organizations. He and his fellow honorees are recognized in the history center's temporary exhibit in conjunction with The Champion newspaper.

  • W2 Forms Available in ESS

     

    Starting Wednesday, February 15, 2012, all employees can print their 2011 W2 forms by logging into Lawson Employee Self-Service (ESS). The ESS application is web-based, so that means you have access to it anywhere you have Internet access with an Internet Explorer browser (DeKalb Medical workstation, your home computer, etc.). Employees who authorized electronic delivery of their W2 form back in December 2011 have had access since January 2012.

  • Get Ready for IT Migration March 9

     

    Information Technology announces the migration of all staff with a Novell account to Microsoft’s Active Directory (AD).

    This transition in technology has a great benefit to the enterprise in the areas of enhanced capabilities and security. Users will see little to no impact in access and usage at their desktop.

    User login and passwords will not be changed, thus each user will enter what they currently use as a password to log in.

    Users will then have a new network drive. This new drive is where all private and shared files will reside.

  • Dr. Jay Recognized by the National Cancer Institute

    Hematologist Oncologist Dr. Jayanthi “Dr. Jay” Srinivasiah recently received the Silver award from The Community Clinical Oncology Program (CCOP) of the National Cancer Institute (NCI) for the number of patients she has enrolled in clinical treatment trials. Congratulations Dr. Jay and thanks for all you do to cure cancer!

  • DeKalb Medical Welcomes COO Dane Henry

    We are pleased to welcome Dane Henry to DeKalb Medical as executive vice president and chief operating officer.  Henry most recently served Northeast Georgia Health System (NGHS) in Gainesville, Ga., as vice president of operations. "Dane Henry brings to DeKalb Medical a wealth of experience leading hospital operations. He has a proven track record in driving results, and his insight will contribute to the growth of our organization," said John A. Shelton Jr. FACHE, president and chief executive officer, DeKalb Medical.

  • Radiology Scholarships

     

    Each year the DeKalb Medical Foundation awards scholarships to two students (one junior and one senior) attending DeKalb Medical’s School of Radiologic Technology.  Members of PEACH, serving on the Grants Allocation Task Force, review the applications and determine which students will be selected.  The DeKalb Medical Foundation is proud to announce this year’s scholarship recipients – junior, Brandon Johnson and senior, Whitney Dennis!  

     

     

  • CBL Annual Updates Early Birds Win

    Thirty DeKalb Medical employees each won a gift card for completing their annual updates in the computer based learning (CBL) modules by January 31, 2012. A total of almost 2,000 employees completed the required CBLs in time to be eligible to win a prize. That’s nearly half of our entire workforce and an outstanding response rate! What’s more, 98 people completed their CBLs in the first 3 days.
